We are looking for a professional, safety-conscious, and reliable Driver to join our team in Porbandar, the “White City” and a significant hub for coastal trade and tourism. As a driver in the birthplace of Mahatma Gandhi, you will be responsible for providing smooth and secure transportation, whether for corporate guests, tourist groups visiting Kirti Mandir, or logistics for the local maritime and industrial sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Safe Navigation: Operate the vehicle with high precision and care, strictly adhering to all traffic rules and speed limits within Porbandar and on coastal highways like NH-27.
- Route Planning: Efficiently plan routes for local city trips and long-distance travel to nearby destinations such as Dwarka, Somnath, or Rajkot, ensuring timely arrivals.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Perform daily pre-trip inspections (checking oil, coolant, tire pressure, and fuel levels). Ensure the vehicle is kept spotlessly clean, reflecting the “White City” aesthetic.
- Guest Hospitality: Greet passengers with a polite and helpful attitude, assisting with luggage and providing basic information about Porbandar’s landmarks and history when required.
- Documentation: Maintain an accurate logbook of trips, mileage, and fuel expenses. Ensure all vehicle documents (Insurance, PUC, RC) are up to date.
- Safety & Security: Ensure the safety of all passengers and the vehicle at all times, practicing defensive driving techniques particularly during the monsoon season.
Qualifications & Skills
- License: Must possess a valid Permanent Driving License (LMV for cars/SUVs or HMV for commercial trucks/buses as applicable).
- Local Knowledge: Thorough familiarity with Porbandar’s geography, including the GIDC area, Chowpati, the port, and surrounding highway routes.
- Linguistic Proficiency: Fluency in Gujarati and Hindi is essential for local coordination; basic English is a significant advantage for interacting with tourists.
- Traits: Punctual, honest, and disciplined with a clean driving record (no major accidents or serious traffic violations).
- Technical Basic: Ability to handle minor mechanical issues or change a flat tire independently.
Experience
- 3–7 years preferred as a professional driver for a corporate office, travel agency, or private family.
- Prior experience driving in the Saurashtra region and familiarity with highway driving conditions is highly valued.
- Knowledge of using GPS and smartphone-based navigation apps is required.
