Shree Hari Temple

Shree Hari Temple, also known as Shri Hari Mandir, is a grand contemporary Hindu temple located within the Sandipani Vidyaniketan ashram in Porbandar, Gujarat. Inaugurated in 2006, it serves as both a prominent place of worship and a center for Vedic education.

Architecture and Spiritual Significance

The temple is renowned for its aesthetic brilliance and peaceful atmosphere, standing as one of the largest and most unique temples in the Saurashtra region.

  • Architectural Style: Built in the traditional Nagara style, the structure is 105 feet high and features 66 pillars supporting beautifully carved domes. It was constructed using Porbandar limestone and Dhangadhra stone, notably avoiding the use of steel or concrete in the foundation below the sanctum sanctorum.
  • Deities: The temple houses several intricately carved marble deities, including Shri Lakshmi Narayan, Shri Radha Krishna, Shri Janki Vallabh (Ram Darbar), Shri Chandramauleshwar (Shiva), Shri Karunamayi Maa, Shri Ganesh, Shri Hanuman, and Shri Veda.
  • Sandipani Vidyaniketan: The temple is an integral part of this educational institution, which provides Rishikumars (students) with practical training in performing Vedic rituals and cultural activities.
